The Tithe belongs to the Lord. There are eighteen (18) references to the "Tithe" and twenty-two (22) references to "tithes" in the NLT Translation of the Bible. I will qoute a few here but you can look them up yourself in your own Bible or Click on ONLINE Bible if you do not have a Bible of your own.
The Giving of The Tithe
The Tithe is to be brought to the Church and given to God. It is one-tenth of everything.
Deut 14:22 - 24 “You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year. 23Bring this tithe to the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored, and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. The purpose of tithing is to teach you always to fear the LORD your God. 24 Now the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored might be a long way from your home.

The Promise to Those Who Tithe
God makes promises to those who tithe and urges those who do not believe to try tithing and see that it works. I like that.
Malachi 3:10-12 "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD Almighty, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! 11 Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease. Your grapes will not shrivel before they are ripe,” says the LORD Almighty. 12 “Then all nations will call you blessed, for your land will be such a delight,” says the LORD Almighty."
